Welcome to Olive and Kore!

My name is O. A., I am so glad you're here. Before I get into all the beauty stuff let me tell you a little about myself.

I started this blog as a way to be in the beauty industry, back in 2020. This blog was my first step towards pursuing my dream of being in the beauty industry. I wrote posts in hopes of making beauty less intimidating, sharing new products, and connecting and encouraging a community of fellow beauty lovers. It was light and witty. This was an escape, a way out of the darkness of quarantine and back into the light of what I love.

Because of this blog I was able to partake in projects that I never would have imagined having the opportunity to experience. I even made it on the Sephora website (eeeeekkk! I still can’t believe it)

It has been an unbelievable, beautiful *ha* journey since then, but I’m realizing I have yet to scratch the surface. My love of beauty has expanded, and my eyes have been opened to the incredible need we have for better representation in the beauty industry. To sit idly while having the opportunity as a Korean to expand representation would be a betrayal to the life and passion I’ve been given. In light of that, I’ve converted my site from purely reviews and tutorials to a place where beauty lovers can come to read about products AND about the importance of representation and other topics. A celebration of beauty, if you will.

I believe you and I both deserve the chance to belong in the places we dream of occupying. So come along with me as I navigate this new chapter and brave these new waters. Thank you for being here, it means a lot.

This is the archived “About” page of my blog. My beauty philosophy still remains the same, so I thought I would leave it here :)

My beauty philosophy has always to care for your skin, first and foremost, and then to enhance (not change) your features with makeup. That does not mean, though, that I do not enjoy some funky makeup (light blue eyeliner is incredible). Since I was young I have always had a passion for beauty in all its forms, and I have tested and learned as much as I possibly could (and continue to test and learn) about the beauty world.

I truly do believe that beauty is one of the most powerful forms of self love. Beauty can be intimidating though, that is where Olive and Kore comes in. Olive and Kore is a place where you can find my must have lists, reviews, recommendations, and inspiration! I even give out free cookies for each post you check out (kidding, sorry).

If you have any questions, comments, or want to discuss the best type of cookie, please don’t hesitate contact me at oliveandkore@gmail.com or dm us on instagram @oliveandkore.
