Color without Commitment

Salutations friends! First of all, let me thank you. We hit 1,000 views on the blog a couple of weeks ago. I was absolutely blown away and so thankful. When I saw the “1,000” views on my analytics page I nearly fainted. I could have never imagined my little blog would be viewed now more than 1,000 times. I know I always say this but truly every view, every read, every moment is getting me that much closer to achieving my dreams. By just visiting my blog once a week, you are helping someone get that much closer to achieving their life’s wildest passion and most untamable dream. How could I thank you enough… I have no idea. I hope, though, through my writing you might be reminded of how beautiful and special each of you guys are. I hope I might be able to give back what you have given me: hope. So thank you. Thank you thank you thank you. I’ll make you proud, stick around and I’ll make sure you won’t regret supporting me. Thank you again.

I don’t know if I’m the only one, but whenever Summer roles around I have this urge to “glow up”. To change, evolve perhaps, into a better version of myself. Whether it is mindfulness, drinking more water, or changing my appearance, by the time June roles around I have this strong urge to become a better version of myself. I never settle, I’m always trying to find ways to improve myself, but I usually am quite timid when it comes to dramatically changing my appearance. I love enhancing my appearance, not changing it. Thoughts of changing my hair color or some other drastic change is quite intimidating for me. But in the name of new beginnings, I decided to take the leap… well sort of.

Some background on me, I’ve always had light brown hair since I was small. I was never satisfied with it and kept it simply because, in all honesty, I guess I enjoyed the attention it brought me. As a Korean, my natural shade of hair isn’t common, and I would get noticed by people for my long, milk chocolate locks. Ah, but my flaw is clear to see: I was not satisfied with my hair but kept it because of other’s opinions. Well, its time to change that. We are gonna do us for us and only because we want to (yeah! I don’t know if that made sense, bear with me haha). That’s where this weeks product comes in: Overtone’s Coloring Conditioner.

The perfect solution for those who want a change, but don’t want the cost or the commitment. These highly pigmented, creamy conditioners act like a dye, but are extremely beginner friendly. The texture is thick and creamy and it smells like mint which I love. Not only can it give you your desired hair color, but it also leaves your hair super soft and shiny (win win!). The instructions say to leave it on for 10-15 minutes, but I left mine on for an hour (hehe oops) and the color was exactly what I had hoped for: dark, rich, and luxurious hair with NO damage. I mixed their Espresso Brown with a hint of their Black to get the perfect brown shade. Now my hair is shiny and dark like a freshly brewed cup of coffee, I love it. Since my hair is significantly darker, my eyes look even lighter, an unexpected but very welcomed new addition to my look. After leaving the conditioner in my hair, I VERY thoroughly rinsed my hair and voila! dream hair. Let me add that I recommend wearing a shirt that you don’t mind staining while applying the conditioner and using a dark colored towel after rinsing it for the first time :). Whether you want to change the shade of your hair like me, or want to take the leap and go for a violet or a pink (or both!) Overtone has the color for you. If you rinse throughly the first time, you should have no problems with the dye getting anywhere else or on anything else. I am so glad I took the leap and I seriously recommend this to anyone who wants to change up their look.

Before and After :)

The moral of the story is that you can be whomever you want to be. As cliche is it is, I’m learning that it is possible to become who you dream of becoming if you’re willing to put in the work and go out of your comfort zones. You don’t have to be who they expect you to be, you don’t even have to be who you were 10 minutes ago! Be who you want to be, and be it unapologetically.

If you read this far, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every post you read is getting me that much closer to my dreams, and for that I am unexplainably grateful.
