Are your lips chapped? I have just the thing for you.
*Note this is a repost from my old website
Salutations! Spring is almost upon us once more. We are currently in that awkward middle time where it’s not quite winter and not quite spring it’s… wpring? Sinter? I don’t know what it’s called but I do know that this time brings about lots of skin difficulties. Whether your skin suffers from the harsh, allergy filled air, the winter/covid hand washing sucking the life from your hands, or a mix of everything drying up your lips, this sinter time is definitely not fun. Fear not, I have a trifecta of posts coming your way to equip you with the knowledge you need to defeat this evil wpring. First post (today’s post hurrah!!!) my favorite lip balm that has saved my chapped lips from my laziness and the evil weather, next weeks is a hand cream that may or may not be the savior for eczema/cracking/itchy hands, and finally the post I have been anticipating, my holy grail product, Go-To’s Face Hero aka the only product you will ever need because it literally saves your skin. So much fun is coming your way so buckle up buttercup we are out to slay this sinter (or wpring, whatever tickles your fancy).
Lips lips lips, the centerpiece to one's face. I don’t know about you, but when my lips are chapped all I think about is how chapped my lips are. It’s irritating, not a great look, and painful. I have to admit, I am somewhat of a lip balm hoarder. Finding a great lip balm that would not only heal chapped lips but prevent them was my addiction. Geez, all of my addictions are being exposed here. I admit it I, Olivia Choi, am addicted to skincare and makeup. Feeeeeew, now that that’s off my chest let me continue telling you about my lip balm addiction.
Ask anyone of my family members and they will tell you of the draws and draws of lip balms I have tried. I have made my own lip balm, I have tried medicated balms, I have bought drugstore all the way to Dior and Chanel lip balms, but nothing has worked nearly as well as the one I’m about to introduce to you. The other lip balms I’ve tried have never been able to tackle the dry, cracked mess that I call my lips. No matter what they claimed to do, or the hefty price tag on them (a big price tag should mean they work, right?? Wrong, sadly most of the time big price doesn’t mean big results) no balm (until this one) has been able to heal AND restore my lips. I also will admit that oftentimes I get lazy and skip lip balm which is a MISTAKE PLEASE DON’T DO THAT. I would destroy my lips and scramble to heal them, it was a vicious cycle I was in until I found this balm. Do you… do you hear that? That’s the sound of Huda Beauty’s Silk Balm coming to rescue us!
Ah yes, the Silk Balm, a smooth, creamy balm in a lip gloss container that happens to be the only lip balm I’ve found with lasting power and healing abilities. She has a slight pink/peach tint in the tube but it is clear. This balm is no joke. It has this ability to soften my lips so much the dead, dry skin flakes just rub off, A MIRACLE. Described on the Huda Beauty website as an “ultra-comfortable liquid balm that combines powerful actives to give you a boost of lasting hydration for silky smooth, fuller-looking lips.” I fully concur. This balm smooths out the surface of your lips, making them seem fuller. What. A. Dream (can I get an whoo for Bratz type airbrushed lips). Filled with hyaluronic filling spheres, soybean and licorice extract, it “provides maximum hydration for lips that feel plumped and smooth in appearance without any tingling sensation – no pain, BIG GAIN!” (Hudabeauty.com)
It stays put, meaning no more of that reapplication every 10 seconds thing has to be done. The thing is no matter how great the formula of the balm, if it doesn’t stay on long enough to actually work it means nothing. This balm does not budge. But don’t be misled, it is in no way thick or suffocating. It glides on smoothly and seeps into the lips so well. Also, something about it being in a lip gloss type container makes putting the balm on feel like more of a treat than a duty. The applicator is a soft, doe foot applicator so you can effortlessly reach every part of your lips.
Silk Balm is on the pricier side of lip balms, but I assure you that it has changed my life and I think it’s worth every penny. It stands at $21.00 USD on hudabeauty.com or sephora.com.
